| Blue-green algae regional co-ordination plan |
|
Pursuant to the Emergency Management Act 1986 and the Emergency Management Manual Victoria, GWMWater has been appointed to the role of Regional Co-ordinator, in the event of a major blue-green algae outbreak. The objective of the Regional Co-ordination Plan is to outline the co-ordinated approach to be taken with blue-green algae management across drainage basins, in order to protect public health and minimise social, environmental and economic impacts. The Regional Co-ordination Plan details the methodology of preparedness for and management of a regional bloom including the roles and responsibilities of the Regional Co-ordinator, Local Water Managers and other agencies to ensure consistent and effective management action before, during and after a BGA bloom.
