Water for regional development

With a strong focus on sustainability, GWMWater undertakes extensive long-term planning in the area of water for regional development. This includes:

  • Responding to forecasted changes in urban water supply and demand.
  • Monitoring the corporation’s energy consumption through major projects such as the Wimmera Mallee Pipeline Project. Planning for development that can occur as a result of water available from the Wimmera Mallee Pipeline.
  • Planning for a viable future for the Wimmera irrigation area.

GWMWater also has an important role in providing water and associated products to infrastructure and agribusiness developments across the region. The range of available products is extensive and includes:

  • Urban water supply.
  • Rural water supply via the Wimmera Mallee and Northern Mallee pipelines or the stock and domestic open channel system.
  • Groundwater.
  • Water diversions from reservoirs, rivers and streams.
  • Irrigation water.
  • Waste water reuse.
  • Biosolids.
