Preparations for the construction of
the Wimmera Mallee Pipeline Project are continuing. In preparation
for tendering for each section, a land liaison procedure has been
established to maximise input from landholders prior to the tender
process for the pipeline.
Community information sessions
are initially held in each construction area, to enable landholders
to discuss the project, to gain an understanding of the design
and construction processes and to start planning their on-farm
works. Landholders will then be visited by WMPP
land liaison staff to discuss site-specific issues.
In parallel, a range of other essential activities
is initiated. For example, ecological assessment
of the pipeline routes is conducted and environmental
management plans formulated; cultural heritage assessment
is carried out, and geotechnical investigations
are undertaken. The recently flown LIDAR survey
information, which provides detailed survey data
for further development of the pipeline design,
is the basis for survey work across the region.
