The Flood Victoria website has been set up to raise community awareness about flood risk. It covers flood prevention, flood preparedness, flood response, recovery and education. It does not provide flood intelligence during times of flood emergencies – this is the role of the SES. It does of course link you to all the relevant websites that you may need at such times
The site is a handy resource for vulnerable communities and for those who are either planning to develop or build on land within flood affected areas or for those wishing to develop a flood emergency plan for their home or business.
With an abundance of educational materials, the site will be a great resource for teachers and students.
The site has information on past major floods in Victoria and frequently asked question pages that provide answers to some common questions.
The site was developed in collaboration with DSE, GBCMA, OESC, VICSES, BoM, Greater Shepparton City Council, Melbourne Water, catchment management authorities and MAV, with major funding provided by EMA and DSE.
