GWMWater is committed to the Integrated Fire Management process and has prepared a Fire Prevention Plan to outline and identify the activities GWMWater will initiate towards fire prevention.

The Fire Prevention Plan is predicated on the protection of life and property and will be available as a reference for Municipal Fire Management Planning Committees. 

GWMWater is responsible for fire preparedness at its reservoirs and storages. As both the perimeter of these sites and the bed of the storage, when dry, are subject to the requirements of native vegetation legislation, fire prevention is accomplished by the maintenance of existing fire breaks and through controlled burns. Some spraying may also be selectively used to keep certain weed species under control, e.g. fairy grass.
