Local Government has played a key role in
the Wimmera Mallee Pipeline Project to date,
and its involvement will continue well beyond
project completion. Each council is playing
an integral role in helping deliver benefits
that the pipeline will bring to their municipalities.
Councils are also playing a key role in preparing
their communities for the influx of people
that will arrive when pipeline construction
starts. They are identifying the services
and skills available within each municipality
and proactively making businesses aware of
opportunities to participate in pipeline works.
They are also working with pipeline planners
to coordinate council works programs with
pipeline activities. Pipeline project planners
and the councils are also working together
on statutory planning requirements and emergency
services including fire-fighting needs in
each municipality.
