As construction continues, GWMWater will update this section with information and photographs that illustrate the different types of construction activities for the project.
Supply System 1 – Construction of this section of the pipeline is complete (1,385km pipe, 4 sets of lined earthen storages and 3 towns provided with tank storages, ten pump stations). GWMWater operations group are now managing this section of the pipeline, with supply of Lake Bellfield water to all towns and farms within the supply zone.
Supply System 2 – Construction will be completed by the end of 2008. All pipes are ‘in the ground’, works are continuing on new pump stations and storages, and meter installation is progressing well. Emergency water is available to some customers, as meters are installed.
Supply Systems 3 & 4 – Construction commenced in May 2008, with 615 kilometres installed in Supply System 3 (Birchip). Supply System 4 (Wycheproof) trunk works have commenced near Rupanyup. Land Liaison visits to all landowners are finalising tapping point locations.
Supply System 5 – The total length of pipe has now been installed - 826 kilometres. There are 5 pump stations and 3 new balancing storages. GWMWater operations group are now managing this section of the pipeline, with supply of River Murray water to all towns and farms within the supply zone.
Supply System 6 – Land Liaison (individual landowner contacts) will continue through to October. Construction is targeted to commence in summer 2008/9.
Supply System 7 – Works are complete between Lake Bellfield and Taylors Lake, with 68 km of pipe installed for the transfer trunk, which is now providing water to SS1 and SS2.
