the future of our region...
both now, and for our kids
The Wimmera Mallee Pipeline Project is the largest water infrastructure projects in Australia. Replacing 18,000 kilometres of inefficient earthen channel with 8,800 kilometres of pressurized pipeline (and associated structures), construction commenced in November 2006. Due to the continuing drought conditions and the severely restricted water supply situation, construction of the pipeline has been fast tracked, scheduled for completion in early 2010.
One of the key groups involved in managing
this project is a nine-member Pipeline
Community Reference Group. People from
across the Wimmera Mallee are part of this
group, which represents the regional community
and keeps GWMWater
informed about community views and expectations
regarding project outcomes. |
